A new occupant of the Friday night foreign series slot on More4.
The Passenger is a French police drama and starts on 17 January at 10.00.
It kicks off with the body of a man found murdered in a Bordeaux railway siding with a bull's head on his shoulders instead of his own. Not very enticing I have to say but hey, its foreign, its set in Bordeaux, so it will be watched!

I'll be giving it a go, at least to start with.

A Minotaur reference? A cult based on Greek mythology doing ceremonial sacrifices? Sounds interesting.

Well...... I didn't really find this gripping. The police captain was a bit of a misery, the psychiatrist was a bit of a cold fish, him sharing a dream with the amnesiac was very odd. I obviously know nothing about these things but would it be usual to keep a mental patient in the bloodstained clothes they came in wearing? Wouldn't you want an orderly with you when you took him home after, imho, a very brief stay! I see we are on to Prometheus next week. This may be the over arching theme but there was actually very little discussion of the possible significance of the Minotaur in this episode.

I'm not liking it much. I agree about the police captain and the psychiatrist, neither of whom could I work up much interest in. So far I'm not sharing Walter's enthusiasm for the series in his preview - and I notice it was introduced as being from his back catalogue, so been around for a while and maybe at the bottom of the barrel when More4 were looking for something to air. I'll give it another episode.

This gets worse! I want to see how it pans out and whether the chap with no memory is in fact a copper, but honestly what a miserable bunch they are. Anaïs is totally without charm imho. If he is a copper, how on earth was he practising as a psychologist and running a mental hospital? It is bonkers and not in a good way.

I'm still watching, just about. That nose capsule - a very strange development. Did they say it was releasing doses of medication? - must have been very tiny and concentrated doses since it's pretty small. Who installed it and why? - something to do with this big multinational company?

Could the nose capsule hold the stuff that gives him the dreams? But yes, it is very tiny. Or is is a monitor? Strange place to put a monitor though! As for the removal scene, well I felt quite ill!

The last two episodes have vanished from my EPG. I began watching on the 4 hub, but when I looked at the recorder, I noticed it wasn't recording Just One Look! This was on channel 86. Most odd.

Checked my recordings.
Just One Look has recorded OK, as far as I can tell without actually watching it.
The Passenger is recording - but what it is recording is 'It Was All Right in the 1970s'. There is a message at the beginning of the scheduled time: "Now, if you're here on More4 hoping to see The Passenger as advertised, I'm sorry but we had to change the schedule - but you can watch the whole series right now on All4." No explanation. Thanks a bunch.

If this is only going to be available on All4 now, and being as I'm half-hearted about it and dislike the All4 player, I'll probably abandon ship.

SPOILER AHEAD.
Although as they have stopped airing it, perhaps it isn't a spoiler!
I thought the end of this was totally barking. Matthias seems to find out his other identities, addresses, documents with no difficulty whatsoever. He would wander into a bar and it would be like everyone turning round and saying Oh Hi Alain, are you still living next door in Flat 6 with the key under the flowerpot? Then in episode 6 of 6 we discover he has an (evil?) twin who his mother (in an institution) believed was aborted but wasn't and has been treated by the mad scientist behind the whole plan. I still don't really know what the plan was or why they set up Matthias. Anais took maverick cop to a whole new level and seemed to be able to shoot people and then charge off with no need to complete any formalities! The two assassins in the short black raincoats took numerous shots at their targets but failed completely to hit the Stars of the show!
There was just too much effort spent on the look of this and not enough in expounding the plot IMHO. Sadly, it seems as if they left it open for series 2 but I shan't bother with that if there is one. I think it will concern Matthias's search for his brother.

Thanks for the "spoiler" - it's reinforced my decision not to bother with the rest of this! It's been more than 4 years since this was broadcast in France and there seems to have been no talk of a sequel, so I think we're safe from the onslaught of any second series!
