Tuesdays at 10pm.
From nose jobs to implants to transgenders they are all here. Last night we had, Cassandra a burlesque dancer. She started out in life as Stacey, a boy. After many thousands of dollars worth of surgery she is now a beautiful woman. Adam a Madonna impersonator has spent $75,000 to look like his idol, not to mention forking out a substantial sum for copies of her costumes. I watched it out of curiosity. Though I would never spend that amount of money on anything.

I could see someone doing cosmetic surgery to look like Michael Jackson for example, since MJs look itself was a result of extensive plastic surgery.
But does Madonna have that much of a unique "look" that could be replicated through cosmetic surgery? She seemed to always look somewhat different with each new album, each new music video. I would think for an impersonator most of that could be believably accomplished with wigs and make-up and you could in fact mimic the various Madonna personas.
Unless he is a Madonna impersonator that focuses on one particular Madonna - ie the Like Virgin Madonna or the Like a Prayer Madonna or the Material Girl Madonna (which was basically Madonna doing Marilyn Monroe)
I one time went to a local fair and they had an Elvis day where they had 4 different Elvis impersonators who each specialized in a specific part of Elvis' career.
They had a young thin guy who dressed in a 50s era vintage suit and did a set of early "Hound Dog" "Jailhouse Rock" Elvis.
Then another guy who looked to be in his thirties wore a sky blue cardigan, khakis and penny loafers and did a set of Elvis' movie songs from the early 60s. "Clambake" "Girls, Girls, Girls", "Viva Las Vegas"
A third guy was dressed in full black leather and did an "unplugged" set doing the "Comeback special" Elvis.
And finally, a chubby guy in white jumpsuit, sunglasses did Vegas era Elvis.
It was nice because so many Elvis impersonators focus solely on white jumpsuit, karate, Vegas Elvis. It was the first time I ever saw an impersonator focus on the movie part of his career.

I used to know a guy who wore a toupee not unlike the one worn by the talent judge.

I give you a local legend, Swansea's own Elvis impersonator, Peter Singh, aka the Rocking Sikh.

Last night's parade of groteques included a fifty year old who, quote "Wanted the biggest boobs in the world." She was certainly going that way, with implants that you could refill yourself. Doesn't she realize her skin will only stretch so much. I thought, what if it all burst open? then she would need surgery, of the life saving kind. Then there was the young 'model' who had had breast implants, butt implants and lip implants. Don't like to say it. but the Micheline Man would be jealous. Lastly the South African man who wanted to look like his favourite Anime character. The only thing he had done, was to dye his hair purple. Though he had spent thousands of dollars on costumes. I don't know where they get the money from to pay for it all. Probably in debt for the rest of their lives.

Its sort of a weird circular logic, these type of programs focus on people who seek to modify who they are in order to try and transform themselves into someone else, with at least part of their motivation being that they want their 15 minutes of fame.
And by exploiting their dysfunction the program gives them the notoriety they seek, which no doubt encourages other people to transform themselves.
Occasionally programs like this will try and delve into the underlying self-esteem issues that lead to things like an addiction to plastic surgery, other times they just roll it out as a voyeuristic freak show.
