I thought I'd give this a try, as it followed a week after her one-off on Pompeii which I liked. I'm enjoying it now it's got into its stride (I found the first episode a bit dodgy - something of a whistle-stop tour).
Bettany's following, roughly, the route of Odysseus's fabled journey from victory at Troy back home to Ithaca. Last week it became really authentic as her boat, from which she'd been presenting against a calm azure sea backdrop, got caught in a sudden storm - just like Odysseus himself - and after a drenching she had to spend the rest of the journey below decks with a seasick cameraman. Later by an odd coincidence she encountered a fan, a Greek islands fisherman - "I watched your series on Egypt" he shouted across the water to her.
Yesterday's was a good episode too, with artefacts and sites which she seems to get access to where members of the public would not.

I have seen a few series with Bethany and find her enjoyable to watch.
She's not dry as dust like some of these presenters.

She's a good presenter, not too academic and always interesting with a sense of fun. She also battles on in the face of adverse weather - after getting soaked at sea a couple of weeks ago, at one point in the latest episode she was presenting in the teeth of a gale which was blowing her hair half across her face.

Really enjoying this, as we have been to some of the Greek Islands mentioned.
Went to Crete on holiday a few years ago, and stood in the graveyard at Akrotiri where she was shown - I was deeply moved at the time, as when we wandered between the gravestones reading the inscriptions, I could see that most of them were very young men of 19 and 20. As I have two sons, it hit me forcefully how they would all have left grieving families.
The island of Santorini was even more dramatic and beautiful than can be captured on camera - we only had one day there, on a cruise, but were fascinated by the volcano. On the other hand, it was horribly overcrowded as too many other ships had all arrived at the same time.
Bettany is very good and keeps it interesting. Her enthusiasm is infectious: you can see that she loves to walk in the footsteps of ancient peoples.
