Mine cut off before the end too - but fortunately I had a back up recording on my PC which didn't.
The whole final scene ended rather more explicitly. Sidney grabbed Amanda and kissed her, Amanda pushed him away a couple of times but then grabbed him back and kissed him passionately, after which they were fumbling with clothes and apparently having sex on her staircase (uncomfortable, or what?). So now I think they have even more soul searching to do...

Yes, mine did too and I had noticed it start two minutes early! I watched the end on ITV+1. He will be in a pickle with the Church if he carries on like this.

Mine cut off too so I missed the fumbling, though it was fairly clear that was where they were headed when Sidney stormed up the path after his none-too-subtle sermon.
I hope Leonard comes clean with whatsername before they marry. No chance of sleeping together beforehand, I guess, so what will happen on their wedding night? As others have pointed out upthread, many gay men did marry and have happy married lives with wives who knew and were tolerant, I suppose because marital status was so much more important then than now and if other areas of their lives were satisfactory. Leonard is a good, kind man. I hope though that he isn't thinking that his sexual orientation is something he can control and 'recover' from.

Yes I have very conflicted views about Leonard. I really like the character and want him to be happy, and I know lots of gay men took this option. But how fair is that to the wife? Unless he turns out to be bi-sexual, she has been short-changed because she doesn't think it is a marriage of convenience. Come on, Leonard, step up please.
What happened to his boyfriend from the last series? I thought they were very happy.

Yes, but this looked awfully awkward.

Final scene in full for anyone that got cut off: 1drv.ms/v/s!AsAp9UKI0C6bixqTbL-qvKYQxveO Naughty vicar! Lol Thanks for that. Looks like ITV have messed up if everyone's recording cut off. It always seems to be ITV that do this. Im hoping Leonard doesn't go through with it. I know some people of the time maybe had happy marriages but I think it should be her choice if she wants to go ahead with that life. I think the guy Leonard was seeing last series went off with someone else because he knew Leonard was never going to be able to commit. Leonard went to his house and he had someone else there. Leonard looked so hurt and heartbroken.

Blimey, he didn't even give her a chance to say her great aunt had called round for for tea!! Whole load of trouble now, they won't be able to pretend to be friends like they have been doing.
Is this the final series, I am wondering if they end it with Sidney leaving the church and Leonard married. I know we don't want that scenario but let's be honest here, it is what the majority of gay men did in the 50s/60s, unless of course Leonard takes a vow of celibacy which is also acceptable within the Church of England. Is it the Order of St John or something.
That said the plot was thin enough to see through this week so maybe they are running out of steam.

It has gone in a completely different direction from the books - where Sidney has a number of curates, you never hear what happens to Leonard, and Sidney and Amanda are only friends (though she does solve crimes with him). In the books he marries the German lady from the first series and has a daughter with her. They are always shown as a devoted couple. Given that this is the 50s and 60s he can't keep his job and Amanda, so it will have to be either or.

So what happens if she finds she's pregnant ... there won't be anyone saying Oh, I wonder who the father could be, will there Personally I hope this is the last series, they're scraping the barrel for stories now... I wish they hadn't gone in the direction they have
