With the U.S. election mere weeks away, Channel 4 has opted to bring the seminal U.S. political drama back to our screens.
The broadcaster has struck a deal to pick up all seven seasons of The West Wing for their streaming service All 4.
It will be available to stream from Wednesday October 21st.

Its sort of a weird dynamic, but if I watch older TV shows from the 50's through the 70's I see them as period pieces, nostalgic and they still seem fresh. They have reached venerated status.
When I see TV shows from the 80's, 90's (and some early 2000s) they often seem really dated. The clothes, almost no one having mobile phones, and if they do they are really old flip phones with those little antennas that you would pull out, limited or no use of internet, computers with giant bubble monitors that take up the entire desk.
I think with the West Wing, a lot of the episode topics were current at the time, and not old enough to be "history" just yet, so it just sort of seems stale news.
20 years from now people will be watching "The West Wing" with the same venerated, respectful, nostalgia people today watch Perry Mason, Columbo, the Original Star Trek. But, to me at least, The West Wings is still fresh enough to feel stale.

It does work as a reminder of how a decent President behaves though.

So true Horace.
The 1980s for example. Pop music really was all about the MTV music video associated with it. I enjoyed videos without really paying all that much attention to the music.
When the MTV hysteria died out and I would hear 80's music on the radio I found much of it to be rather cringeworthy as stand-alone music. Especially the synthesizers, electronic drums and over produced sound seemed very dated and out of style.
Now, 35 years later I find myself with a new appreciation for bands like The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Joy Division, Culture Club, Spandau Ballet and of course a lot of the Hair Metal Bands. Especially when I see live performances where they have stripped down the production for a stage performance. The songs, melodies, lyrics, vocal performances are outstanding.

This is one of my all time favourite TV series. Never missed an episode. Did consider buying the box set but could never afford it at the time. Will definitely watch this! I remember many years ago when I did a British Constitution course, we did a comparison of political systems with the American constitution which even the tutor( who was American) thought was confusing. The only thing I remember is that in Britain candidates stand for office , in America they run. Never forgotten that!
