Has anyone else been watching this? I feel compelled to stick it out and find out how it ends, but I’ve rarely disliked the main characters in a series more. And I can’t help but feel the writer was just ticking boxes on a standardised “Murder Drama” outline without diving below the surface of any of it.
Great house and scenery.

Oh dear, it's getting properly trashed, isn't it? Definitely shan't bother with that one!

I got to the stage if I heard him shriek Angela on more time I was going to chuck something at the telly!!
The only reason I am still watching is to see if Sally Lindsay's character solves it.
It was an unusual house though.

Like beth63 I'm watching it to the bitter end simply because I started so I'll finish but it is pretty dire. I can't remember when I have seen such bad acting.

It's as mad as a box of frogs and Part Two was pure comedy, however I can't help watching. The actor playing Sam seems very poor. Sally Lindsey said she doesn't know how they squashed it into four episodes. Personally I think the whole thing would benefit from being compressed to two. Seems drawn out.
Lastly. Is it the Smart House they used for Finding Alice?

It really was poor. Characters were unbelievable and shallowly written - and the script mostly called for them to be monotonously boring, ranting or just downright unpleasant. Not surprisingly the actors constantly seemed as if they'd rather be somewhere else. The passage under the cliffs which came up in a field felt like it was lifted from an Enid Blyton Famous Five adventure.
The plot had some possibilities if only they'd been developed properly - Radio Times comment on the finale says it "...almost makes sense if you don't sit and analyse it". It then goes on, "But with daft dramas like this, picking them apart is half the fun", although I must say I didn't find watching this one to be any sort of fun at all.

Four hours of my life I won’t get back.
Sally Lindsey’s quote makes sense if she means that there was lots of detail just cut out to leave a basic summary of the plot.
The final scene - was that the sound of Sam’s footsteps on the stairs as he came to take his revenge? Because I feel it really needed a supernatural twist at the end.

What a waste of four hours !!
The bloke who played Sam couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

Who was it playing Sam? I shall look it up and see if I've seen him in anything else.

Police had no idea where Sam had disappeared to so despite that thought it a good idea to search a cave.

Who was it playing Sam? I shall look it up and see if I've seen him in anything else. Tom Meeten. I had never heard of him but this is from Wikipedia:
In 2018 he was nominated for a BAFTA (Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer) for his producer role on The Ghoul. A critically acclaimed British independent film in which he played the lead.
A BAFTA nomination? I don't know The Ghoul but his acting must have been better in those days if it was "critically acclaimed" even if he did get the nomination for producing. He is also known as a comedian and there were times when I wondered if Intruder was meant to be comedic. I think it is probably the worst drama I have ever watched.
