Anyone seen this? It is based on the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Now she is my permitted summer guilty pleasure!!!! I decided last year that not having a holiday didn’t mean I couldn’t have the sun lounger book, so I read Malibu Rising and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I mean, they aren’t what you would call great, but in the sun with a glass of something cold, they do the trick. I’ve got the next one on advance order from Amazon, 😂😂😂.
I thought rather than buy this book I would save my money and watch the show but think the book might have been the better option. This is largely based on Stevie Nicks and Lyndsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac. This group, and it’s taken us six of the ten episodes to get there, have an enormous hit record called Aurora, read Rumours, and then there is a disastrous tour with a cataclysmic final concert. This isn’t a spoiler because the format is of a documentary 20years later when the band are talking heads and the disaster is referenced very early on.
Apparently the soundtrack has been released and is selling very well. The actors did a sort of boot camp for weeks and took it all very seriously. It stars Elvis’s granddaughter Riley Keough as Daisy (a right PITA imho) and Sam Claffin, yes our chap, as the lead of The Six (of whom there are five). Now they all look great as their older selves especially Sam ❤️ but he looks about 10-20 years too old to play the struggling musician of 20 years earlier.
Amazon made a lot of fuss about this, and it’s OK as a summer frippery, not that I have finished it so it may become wonderful (unlikely as that seems). I rather wish I’d just bought the book. And that Amazon had spent the budget for this on Three Pines.
