It was the biggest TV drama of 2016, now The Night Manager is to return for two further series on BBC1, complete with star Tom Hiddleston.
More than 10 million viewers tuned in to see his character, soldier turned hotel manager Jonathan Pine, do battle with Hugh Laurie as arms dealer Richard Roper.
Now, nearly a decade after the series won 11 major awards, it will film again this summer for a second series to air in 2025, and a third the following year.

Blimey, nothing like a short rest between series!

I hope we get a recap of the first series which I can barely remember. They might put it on late at night before the new series starts.
The first series led to mutterings about Tom H becoming the next James Bond. Has the part gone to anyone yet?

Yes I was hoping that, Helen. They did show series 1 recently on, I believe, Drama but I hope the BBC still have the rights.
I did see a Bond rumour the other day but can’t remember who it was. That Aaron Taylor Woods or whatever his name is? He doesn’t look very Bond-like to me.

I think I stopped watching this when a female character got fridged in the second episode.
