Hey LW, like your new avatar - not sure about 'The Pinnacle of Awesome' yet
Perhaps the very first crisps were fried in lard, that's the best 'frying medium' there is - but oh, so terribly bad for you... yet our fathers/grandfathers etc ate 'bread and dripping' and it didn't seem to do them any harm

I will be working hard on my acceptance speech, tonight.
But I think you are right about the crisps.

never been keen on crisps especially those blue ones they used to sneak into the packet. digestives and custard creams are my only vice these days.

That's cos they used to do manual work all day. Not sit on their bums and do mental work like most of us do these days.

i love Hoola Hoops. Mmmm. and them Quavers. If you like Hoola Hoops and Quavers then the cheese flavour Puft Hoola Hoops are the snack for you. Quite new, I've on,y seen them in 6 packs. They also come in ready salted and another (BBQ or beef I think) but I haven't tried them. The cheese ones are lovely though.

I will eat anything that is truly savoury. For some reason, I have gone off crisps. They don't seem right any more. When I was at university, I would go through one huge bag of crisps at a time, can't remember the weight, but it was about the same size as one of those bags that now has six bags inside them. They seem so different. That will be the lack of salt, Ritz crackers have gone the same, also Pot Noodles, I use to love one as a rare treat (if you can call a pot noodle a treat) but now the salt content has gone down and they taste of beggar all these days.

I bought Ritz crackers the other day and wondered why they didn't taste right! I haven't eaten them for about 10 years.

Yesterday I visited M & S to pick up a ready meal or two - and was tempted by a special offer on some 'combo' snacks (that's crispy things in different shapes and sizes). Opened the Salt and Vinegar flavour last night - and found it hard to leave it alone No doubt the Sour Cream and Chives will be just as irresistible!

I bought Ritz crackers the other day and wondered why they didn't taste right! I haven't eaten them for about 10 years. Strangely enough, so did I! I also knew they tasted different, but I still like them. Any of the hand-cooked 'designer' crisps are my usual first choice. Black Pepper, Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar, or Sweet Chili flavours. Doritos. If I'm kidding myself I'm a healthy eater, Walkers Sunbites Multigrain Snacks are my newest drug of choice. I'm sort of lucky(?) in that I know if I eat a whole bag of anything I'll feel thoroughly sick (down to the salt, I think), so I have a strong incentive not to overindulge.

These Sunbites are horrible (IMO).
Anyway, I have found dried squid. That is really nice.

My 'reach for' snack is pork scratchings every time (has to be Mr Porky's). I'm not one to nibble much during the day, but I do get peckish of an evening. I too have gone off crisps.

Beth - I find I'm grabbing packs of those Designer type crisps now. They're certainly scrummy. Not the chilli ones, though LOL - my Tablet put "they're certainly crummy!"

I only eat cheese and onion crisps now and then, or cheese Doritos. Otherwise, Lidl's do some lovely multigrain crackers.
