Anyone watching this? It's completely different to a normal meet.
At the moment I'm watching the Elimination Mile. It's similar to the one in the cycling where the person at the back has to stop when they cross the line on each lap. It's been chaos in this one though as one woman thought she was out but she wasn't. So she argued with her coach and ref for a lap. And then rejoined the race, which you can't do. But they let her carry on running for the next two laps. She thought she'd come in second until the ref told her she was disqualifed!

I saw about half of it and, while the idea of the meet, the format, and the interesting way to deliver familiar events in a different way was good, the televising of it, and presentation generally, I found grating and slightly fake, or stagey, in part (people clearly being directed to gyrate around a DJ, that sort of thing). Doesn't need it. I guess it was a Channel 7 broadcast, so difficult to capture a different edit, but the p-in-p and audio of the Australia team captain running along yelling was somewhat off putting too.

It's the first one they've done so I'm guessing the next one will be a bit more refined. But yeah, the yelling is a tad annoying!
