Another Brit through - Dan Evans.
Well done Dan!
We're guaranteed another male Brit through to the next round - Brit Liam Broady takes on Brit Andy Murray tomorrow!

Drat, I missed the start of the highlights show. Did Clare make any comment about the new-old format vs last year's disaster?

Didn't hear one. The Beeb wouldn't want to lose face! Didn't watch much as there were still good matches on the red button channels.
Did anyone see the Eurosport highlights show?

McEnroe did though. Something about not liking their new place as much as the old one. With a sarky grin, of course!

..Giorgio's out.....could watch her all day... She played well. Shame she came up against such a good player in the 1st round. Gulbis and Monfils went out yesterday, which is sad as they are both fun to watch.

A fabulous win for Brit Marcus Willis against Ricardi Barankis of Lithuania. Willis played a blinder. He had to get through pre-qualifying and qualifying to reach the main draw. He's currently ranked something like 772 in the world. Well done Marcus! That was a faubulous match and what a super bloke. Can't wait to see him and Federer in action.

Someone mentioned over talkative commentators upthread. John inverdale is rabbiting on as iif he's being paid by the word and don't get me started on McEnroe. Haven't heard Andrew Castle yet thank goodness. Is he there?
Just watching the Dustin Brown match with NO commentary. Bliss!

I love Johnny Mac's commentary! It is Courier who seriously gets on my nerves. Brown v Kyrigios in the next round! If they are both on form, that will really be worth watching.

Oh blast! Andrew Castle has turned up. Commentating on the Murray match. He's already sleb spotting.
The problem with Mac is that he doesn't shut up even when the ball is in play. Its annoying when you're trying to concentrate on the game.
Agree about Brown v Kyrgios. Could be fun.

I like Dustin Brown, talk about Joe Cool. No time for his opponent, a total brat IMHO. Unless he has had a personality change of course.
Now Clare disappointed me today. The post match interview with Serena was all about her Mum being in the Royal Box, and attendant protocol, and some karaoke thing with James Corden. All that before any reference to the match! Don't know if things improved cos I swore at the TV and went to make a cuppa.

Didn't see that "interview", Marion. I suppose, after all these yrs, it is hard for Serena to find much new to say about a match. Willis v Federer should be the highlight today.

I love watching Dustin Brown (super match last year when he knocked to Nadal) I really enjoy the way he plays, he uses all the court ... as opposed to the one who just stand on the baseline and play from there. He has a super range of shots. I also like Kyrigos. The match should be good

I set aside this afternoon to watch Dustin Brown play his Kyrgios match, only to discover it is on Thursday!!!!!
I just saw in the paper that the young hopeful who played Roger Federer is getting married next month at 18. That is pretty young, by today's standards especially! Taylor Fritz - and Mac reckons he will be a top 10 player.
