When he got the yips on that first match point, I was a bit worried we were in for another 2 hours. But fair play to him.

It bought to mind a match Arvine Palmer played at Wimbledon a while back. He was up 2 sets to love, with a break and 30-0 on his serve. All he needed was two more points ... and he went on to lose in 5 sets!

It would appear that Roger Federer will be out for the rest of the season with a recurrence of his knee injury. How sad is that.

He's never won an Olympic gold for the Singles, so I bet he is disappointed not to be able to have a crack at it in Rio. He'll be 4 yrs older in 2020 (obviously), so I'd guess this was his last real chance.
That said, he has been pretty lucky through his career, injury-wise. Time and tide waits for no man, not even a champion tennis player. I wonder if he will take to commentating when he retires. I can't see it somehow, but you never know.

It's only this last year he had been troubled by injuries. He has been very lucky it has come at the end of his career and not years back. Some players have a dreadful time, look at poor Del Potro. I hope he gets to come back, such an elegant, clever player.

Johanna Konta has risen one place in the women's rankings to a career-high 13th. Naomi Broady climbed three spots to 81st, while there was no change for 67th-placed Heather Watson. What is interesting is that she is currently ranked ninth in terms of qualification for the year end finals in Singapore. www.wtatennis.com/rankings

Andy is seeded 2 after Novak, so they're seeded to meet in the final again. I assume Delpo is playing but I don't know which half of the draw he is in.
