Hard luck Dan. Gilles Muller was too good today.
Australian Open starts tomorrow.

All our players seem on good form, though Heather Watson has a tricky first round against Stouser.

Yes and she'll have the Aussie crowd against her.

Good results overnight for Kyle Edmond, Johanna Konta and Heather Watson. Five Brits through to the second round. Naomi Broady could make it six if she wins her match.

Fabulous win by Dan Evans over Marin Cilic. Murray on course for a straight sets win.

Well done Dan. Hope Murray's ankle doesn't give him trouble. Nice to hear McEnroe doing the commentary.

Dan is proving that success breeds success! Very pleased for Heather as that was a tough first round.
Kyrgios has already had a melt-down and managed to lose to Seppi in 5. Sheesh, that lad needs some head-help!

Johnny Mac aired his concerns too.

He's such a waste of a talent.

Dan Evans had his problems in the past. He's proof that changing his ways and knuckling down can reap dividends.
Hopefully Kyrgios will also find his way. He has the talent but not the temperament at the moment. There have been others in the past like Johnny Mac who did calm down a bit as he got older.

But even when Johnny Mac was at his brattish worst he was still winning. Krygios hasn't won a thing, has he? So his behaviour is getting in the way far more than JM's ever did.

Fair point. As you say, a wasted talent.

He has the talent but not the temperament at the moment. There have been others in the past like Johnny Mac who did calm down a bit as he got older. In fairness, Dan had a shorter road to travel there! The worry for Kyrgios is that he could be perceived to be match-fixing. I'm sure betting patterns are under special scrutiny when he is having one of his melt-downs.

He's already been fined once for 'tanking', hasn't he?
