To my mind the error on his paperwork, the fact that his test was after the Open’s deadline and that he did not comply with isolation rules in Serbia would have been enough on their own. I can’t believe any ordinary person would be allowed in with those issues.

I'm not sure that Wimbledon will do much. Currently sports people in the UK don't have to show a negative test or vaccine proof to play any sport in this country. Sports Bodies are recommending that people take tests, but how far this is regulated is anyone's guess. It could be that all the footballers in a club have to have a test on Thursday, but is that throughout the leagues. Do people playing at the snooker or darts have to line up and take on, are equestrians doing it. There's not some overarching rule as far as I can see. Park Runs are back from today and they're not regulated at all.
People coming from abroad appear (and I'm saying appear because god knows what the actual regs are) to have to provide a negative test after 5 days.
I can't see them changing this unless the govt steps in.

Just noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any line judges anymore…just ball girls and boys and an umpire.
Seems to work well, maybe we don’t need them anymore.

Just noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any line judges anymore…just ball girls and boys and an umpire. Seems to work well, maybe we don’t need them anymore. They started that last year. It's an adaptation of Hawkeye and gives the benefit of "showing" the players the call, on a screen that they can see, almost simultaneously to the call, and they can ask the umpire to replay it. Also replays a rally ending shot within 6 inches of a line. The voices providing the calls came from local emergency services workers. "Jeez, mate! That was well out!" |

The Australian men’s final highlights are on BBC1 but it hasn’t finished yet! Over five hours so far.
I haven’t watched any of the action so far, so it was a surprise to me that there are no line judges. It’s fully automated. I wonder if we will get that at Wimbledon.

I missed that as I had visitors, but delighted for Nadal who has become something of an elder statesman and diplomat within the game. Less impressed with the crowd booking Medvedev.

Great match, I was exhausted by the end, goodness knows what they were like.
My husband reckons Medvedev was getting booed because of something he said about Djokovic. No idea what.

Apparently insulted the umpire, made obscene gestures, accused his opponent’s father of illegal coaching during the match, generally had a major meltdown…. for which he was fined
