British Cycling’s reputation faces the prospect of another battering after it was accused of misleading UK Sport, the body that provides it with millions of pounds of public money each year, by covering up allegations of bullying in an internal report after London 2012. Liz Nicholl, the chief executive of UK Sport, said British Cycling had displayed “a complete lack of transparency” by giving UK Sport a summary of an internal performance review conducted by its former CEO Peter King which did not accurately reflect the facts of the report. www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/feb/21/uk-sport-accuses-british-cycling-damning-report-2012-2016Never let the truth get in the way of a cash cow; UK Sport funded the world class programme. It seems that they are redacting it, to "get it right". Right.

The language British Cyling use, in respect of their report, is exactly the same as used when in front of the Sport Select Committee, just before Christmas, when being quizzed about the delivery of drugs to Team Sky in 2011. Just not credible. The position with UK Sport is not so dissimilar. The issue is that the pool of people that rise to the top in these organisations is quite small and very nepotistic. Failing upwards is the order of the day.
I'm hoping for a Froome, Cavendish, or Cooke to lead a breakaway (Political, not sportive:) ) and start a new organising body but, sadly, the established bodies seem to have more power than politicians these days.

They need to threaten to take their money back, and refuse further funding.

British cycling's credibility took a further nose dive. A doctor who received a 'mystery package' for Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2011 has no record of his medical treatment at the time, MPs have heard. In 2014 ex-Team Sky medic Dr Richard Freeman had a laptop containing medical records stolen, the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee were told. Team Sky and British Cycling's record-keeping was questioned in the hearing. "No one has any recognition of what was in the package," UK Anti-Doping chief Nicole Sapstead said on Wednesday. This is not to say that there was any cheating, but it really doesn't look good when a doctor says that there are no records of somebody's treatment. It is, at the very least, incompetence of the highest order, and maybe even illegal under data protection regulations. There should always be a clear trail of evidence, and not the sort kept on a laptop; it should be kept safely and securely so that, if there are any issues, it can easily be accessed by other medical professionals. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/39128672

Oh bloody hell. One of the few sports we're good at and now it looks dodgy.

And, all together now. Things can only get worser: Testosterone patches seem to have been delivered to British Sky "by mistake". Dr Freeman (who was responsible for ordering medical supplies) has, apparently, told Ukad that it was not destined for any riders. Also a source close to Sky also backed up a further revelation in the Sunday Times that the team’s other doctors had jointly blocked an attempt by Dr Freeman to obtain a Therapeutic Use Exemption in early September 2013 due to concerns about the lack of consultation over Freeman’s earlier applications for the TUEs for Wiggins. www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/mar/05/team-sky-doctor-richard-freeman-was-allegedly-sent-banned-testosterone-patches-dopingThe problem with the testosterone incident is that nobody is ever going to say that it was anything other than a mistake ... but it is a very odd mistake to make. Then there is this: On Wednesday Brailsford’s position became impossible, after Ukad’s head, Nicole Sapstead, told MPs that far more of the corticosteroid triamcinolone – tradename Kenalog – had been ordered by Freeman than would have been needed to give Wiggins the three injections recorded on his TUEs and that it could not be accounted for because he had either kept no records or those he had kept had disappeared with his laptop on a Greek island in summer 2014. www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/mar/05/team-sky-sir-dave-brailsford

British Cycling not only 'lose' important data, if it doesn't fit, they can always edit out the bits they don't like:

A "medal at any cost" approach created a "culture of fear" at British Cycling, says former rider Wendy Houvenaghel. The Olympic silver medallist accused the organisation of "ageism" and having "zero regard" for her welfare. She is the latest high-profile cyclist to come forward after Jess Varnish, Nicole Cooke and Emma Pooley criticised the World Class programme. Houvenaghel told the BBC she felt "vindicated" by a leaked draft report detailing British Cycling's failures. Houvenaghel was number 1 in the world and dropped from the team in 2012. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/39339718

Because it is about drugs and British cycling I'll just tag this bit of news on the end of this thread. Organisers of the Tour de France have formally forbidden Chris Froome from signing in for this year’s race, which starts on Saturday, in a last-ditch attempt to stop him competing, according to a report in Le Monde. The race’s owner, Amaury Sport Organisation, has made the move in order to protect the image of the race because Froome’s appeal against his drugs test from last September has not been resolved. The cyclist has always maintained he never broke the rules. Team Sky are appealing the decision. Froome ‘blocked from signing in to Tour de France’ over unresolved drug appeal

Pattery , if he has not broken the rules , how does he explain double the amount of Salbutamol?
It is not good for his reputation, he should have come clean about it when the news got out.
