My first was Thin Lizzy in Oxford, 1979.
Best - probably Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the Albert Hall, because I never expected them to come back to the UK and then they surpassed all expectations. Plus, Steve Winwood popped on stage - what's not to love?
Worst - Girls Aloud, who were also part of the weirdest lineup, with Jay Z and Coldplay.
I'm aware my choices are quite mainstream rock, so I'm interested in everyone else's experiences.

Best, I haven't seen many, but Siouxsie & The Banshees and Japan, Birmingham Odeon 1981 - both were fantastic.

The first band I saw live was New Kids on the Block , in my defence I was only 14. The best was probably Deacon Blue at the Albert Hall, although we're off to Hyde Park on Friday evening to see Wolf Alice, Alabama Shakes and Mumford & Sons so this might change. Worst is probably The Vamps earlier this year, simply because they're not my cup of tea, my daughter enjoyed it though. Weirdest was The Fun Lovin' Criminals, they had been smoking something strange that night! When they decided to act out Star Wars scenes instead of play music most of the audience gave up and left

First was Pink Floyd in 1976 - mind blowing! Seen the Moody Blues a couple of times, one of my favourite bands, but not the best live. It's been quite a while since I've been to a live music event - a Radio 1 Big Weekend a couple of years back - and enjoyed bopping with the crowd

My last was Toto, last year at the Hammersmith Apollo (will always be the Odeon to me). I was depressed at the number of people who just chatted with each other or stayed glued to their phones throughout. Misses the point of the live music experience.

I was at a Kinks gig when the drummer hit one of the Davies bros with a cymbal. For raw energy Dr Feelgood, for music Van Morrison and Roxy Music.

It's been quite a while since I've been to a live music event - a Radio 1 Big Weekend a couple of years back - and enjoyed bopping with the crowd Seen Pink Floyd lots of times . . but best for atmosphere and sound was 1988 Maine Road. Most electric and awe-inspiring lasers was Earls Court (luckily not the night the seating collapsed) Best best of all was Yes. My favourite of all bands. Again loads of concerts - all good, lots of memories. Will never see them again - although I see that Rick, Trevor Rabin and Jon are touring again - might be tempted. But Moodies lugsbug! I think they are miles better live isn't that odd! Although to be honest the last few times I've thought that Justin looked and sounded bored so it has put me off seeing them again. BUT for the ultimate all encompassing atmosphere and just fabulous music and with Tim's singing and mesmerising dancing it has to James. Saw them three times in May and the penultimate gig in Birmingham was so brilliant we thought about trying to get tickets for the next night at Nottingham. Luckily we didn't as the last show was cancelled as Tim was ill. Felt so bad for all those travelling up to see them.

First was being dragged to see Cliff in the early 60s. Me and my sister really wanted to see The Beatles! Ironically we went to see Cliff by choice a good few years later.
Best - James Brown at the Chichester Real Ale and Jazz Festival not long before he died. He was still fabulous though. A true legend. Also the Q Tips reunion in 1993.
Worst - probably Macey Gray. I swear she was drunk. Also chaperoning my then young niece to a Bros concert. That was dire.
Weirdest - the first time I saw Paul Young in his Tex Mex band (Los Pacominos). So different to his solo gigs. I've seen the Pacos a few times now and really like them. It's a great night out. They were the last band I saw live the back end of last year.

Yes - since the mid 90s. All the musicians are top notch.

I love that. I always wonder what happens to people when they're not in the charts anymore.

Never been to a live concert. At first it was because, where I lived, nobody even thought about it, they seemed to be -- and probably were -- too remote. Then I just never found the time, even as a student. I really feel that I have missed out on something.

Then I just never found the time, even as a student. I really feel that I have missed out on something. Never too late to start! I have to say live music events have been among the best experiences of my life. Even the bad ones are something to laugh about forever after.
