I once heard a live open-air concert by Paul McCartney from about a mile away across the Mersey. The sound level was about right there!

The best concerts I have gone too is these guys, I am glad I got to see them on their very last tour. The worst concert I have been too was Ozzy. Another great show was Tears for Fears about 3 years ago. I was suppose to see them in May but I had a major heart attack the night before. Loved Rush for many a year and have seen them 3 times, but I think they diversified too much during the 90s, and not to my taste. Best - I have many favourite gigs, not least seeing Muse twice in Wembley Arena, but I think the best I saw was a Captain Sensible gig in the local concert hall. It would hold about 2000, but only about 50 people turned up for it. He hauled his mike stand off the stage and did his gig the same level as us gig-goers, like a band in a pub might be, and it was very intimate with us all gathered round. A wonderful experience. And I wasn't particularly a big fan at the time. First gig - well, if I discount the Child concert I went to when I was a lovestruck 14 year old (with the drummer - now heading an Eagles tribute band called The Legal Eagles) and nobody remembers them, the first really big band I saw was AC/DC doing their Hell's Bells tour. Wierdest - Hawkwind come close - they used to come to Folkestone every year for about 25 years. But I'd say Polyphonic Spree were probably the most weird though, simply because of the number of them - there were about 30 all crowded onto the stage. They all worse smocks, like something out of a cult (and in fact, I found out they did live a kind of commune) I'd never actually heard of them when I went, but my friend saw them at Glastonbury and said to her OH "Cake will love this band" so I went on the strength of that and she was right - I absolutely loved them. I can't think of a worst gig - I'm sure there must be one, but perhaps I have wiped it from my memory I was thoroughly miserable for the whole of Glastonbury 86 - which was an utter washout - but I don't suppose that counts!

The first concert I went to was Van Halen on their fair warning tour, seen them 4 times. I have seen Rush 5 times another great concert was Genesis, saw them on their Mama tour. I have seen U2, The Police,Sting, Simple Minds, Frankie Goes To Holleywood, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ratt, Bon Jovi, INXS. Journey,Asia.I just saw then last month. I use to not appreciated a band until I saw them live.

I'd have loved to have seen Genesis live back in the 70s. They really weren't the same when Peter Gabriel left. My 80s version was Marillion Fish was my very own version of Gabriel! Oh - and their gigs were fabby too!

I went to see Elkie Brooks just post hay days and she shouted at us. She played a load of new stuff which was pretty average and she played a bit of stuff she had done with Andy Fairweather-Low and then people were shouting out for Lilac Wine/Pearls a Singer (not me I hasten to add) and she got really cross and said she was fed up with people only wanting her hits and not wanting her new music. She ranted for about 10 minutes and half the audience left. She did do Pearl's a Singer unfortunately.
