You’ve reminded me I never used to have a radio/cassette so I had to record the radio, (or even tv sometimes) on my Dad’s standalone cassette recorder. Quality was always dreadful and there was always background chatter and other household noises! I got one was eventually for Christmas at about age 15, but I had to pay for half of it. This would have been late 1970s. We were very behind the times at our house. We didn’t even get a colour telly until 1982!

Hoody, I love your strapline - it's the sort of person I am as well though obviously without any swears in it, but I might think them
Talking of swears, seeing Alice there reminded me of one we used to sing at work do's - "Who the >expletive deleted< is Alice" - it used to crack us up putting That Word in there

Wowser! I think video cassette recorders were being used before then... I know. Still SOOO embarrassing!!! Dad always said he couldn’t see the point 😂 He only gave in when I broke my leg and was incarcerated downstairs for a month (till I could use the stairs again). And even then, the actual reason was because it had a remote control. Anyway, at least I could watch the unfolding of of the Falkland’s war and the Snooker World cup in colour!

Hmmm, not sure if that would be my sort of viewing, Cake! But I do remember how much Mum, Dad and I enjoyed Hi-de-Hi which was around the same time. Drunken Mr Partridge the children's entertainer who didn't actually like kids...Gladys Pugh, the 'I'm just a girl from the valleys...Go about your business, Sylvia!" Oops, this is a music thread so I've gone off-topic better try and dodge Miranda with her big stick >scarpers<

Have I used bad language on here? Don’t understand 100% what you mean. My strapline is a quote from a Kiki Dee song, but I use it because I do tend to say what I think. I am capable of omitting the Malcolm Tucker words though, and usually do.

Course you haven't used bad language, Hoody, sorry if I was unclear! Sometimes I know what I mean but no-one else does
Back to the sounds - another thing I love is techno-trancey synthy stuff, think tunes like 'Fade To Grey' by 'Visage' (1981) How I love You-Tube....
