The band that got me and MrC together was Marillion. In the first instance, it was the album Script For a Jester's Tear. We went all around the country to see those concerts (well from Folkestone, to London and Leeds) but big time was their album Misplaced Childhood. Very poignant, and well written.
This is just the first part (for some reason you can't get the whole album on YT! You have to do it in sections. It really is brilliant. Fish (real name Derek Dick) was a great poet and musician.

The great soul singer James Ingram. Who passed away earlier this year. Probably my favorite song of his, with Quincy Jones band playing support.
I love how in the last verse his voice cracks a bit. Not a clinker, just a word/note he stretches for and doesn't quite get there. But it makes it sound raw and powerful.
