I've recorded it so not watched it yet. Not in London so won't have seen the plays but have occasional heard about some of the musicals but even they seem a bit more unknown. Maybe the awards make them more known!
I was disappointed Lazarus, the Bowie play/musical wasn't nominated. I saw that in November and was blown away. It was more a play with music rather than a full blown musical. It was different than what I've seen before but was thinking about it on the train journey home, weeks later and still now can't stop listening to the soundtrack (Valentine's Day, Dirty Boys by Michael Esper and Its No Game by Michael C Hall and Absolute Beginners by the cast)
I think they should show this live on Sunday night like they do with the Tonys or show it later that night, which is what they've done in previous years, because 2days later the results have been in the papers.

I'm going to see The Play That Goes Wrong which won an award a few years ago.

My group went to The Play That Goes Wrong some time ago and they loved it. Peter Pan Goes Wrong was on TV and it was very good but that was nothing like the live production I saw which was awful. I think the timing was off, definitely something was adrift and I left early.
We had been to a few of the nominated ones, like Show Boat, excellent, but no winners so far. The Red Shoes is now on tour and we are going to that tomorrow.

I really enjoyed Peter Pan goes Wrong on TV so when I heard about The Play That Goes Wrong touring I got tickets. I think TPTGW is heading to Broadway.
Angels In America sounds like it'll be good. I loved the tv miniseries they made. I'd love to see lots of stuff in the West End but the tickets are so expensive and then there's the travel.
I also remember while watching Jason Manford last night that I saw him in The Producers, he was very good.

I agree, West End prices are horrific. Thank goodness for senior and group discounts especially for mid week matinees. And my Freedom Pass is my most treasured possession. The panic when I can't find it!!

What's a Freedom Pass?
The only reason I saw Lazarus was because I got a front row ticket for £15. Everything from the 2nd row back until the row before the back row were between about £55-125! When I saw The Producers in London the tickets were about £50 but it had Reece Shearsmith so I went!😊 But Jason Manfords version was a regional tour and I got a discount code for the tickets and those were £12 each. But buying 3 still cost £36. I wanted to take my mom and aunt to see Billy Elliot but at about £50 each it's too much for 3 tickets.

I've just finished watching this on ITV. Did anyone watch? Was Jason Donovan miming? They did Any Dream Will Do, with Joe McEldrey starting it off as, I think the current Joseph, Lee Mead joining in as the winner of the BBC1 show and then Donovan. But McEldrey and Mead sounded like they were singing live because it sounded and looked real, but Donovan sounded like the CD and he seemed to move his mouth in an exaggerated way on certain words. Very strange.

I had it on, was looking forward to the Joseph bit but was a little disappointed, sounded odd but I suppose it had to be altered to cater for all the actors.
Lots of the people I had never heard of. Thought it was a hard audience to please. Lesley Joseph (I think it was her, thought it was Anita Dobson first!) tried to get a reaction when introducing the Frankenstein bit and failed . . Was it Ross Noble as Frankenstein?

Ross Noble was in Young Frankenstein but I think he has left.
