Starts Friday 15 July at 9.00.
Replacing Dicte Crime Reporter in the More4 foreign drama slot, this is a Belgian black comedy (in Flemish) about four sisters who plot to murder their obnoxious brother-in-law. Or maybe five if the wife is involved as there are five sisters.

The Out-Laws. Brand new series - Blood Ties: Darkly comic Belgian drama. Four sisters prepare for their hated brother-in-law's funeral as two insurance agents probe his death. In Flemish/subs. (Ep1/8) There's precious little else on TV at the moment so I will at least give this a go.

Sounds like it could be good! And I need some stuff to record as all the series I record at the moment are coming to an end.

It certainly was darkly comic. The characters were engaging and it was well acted so certainly enough to keep me watching. Yes, there were some holes in the plot. For instance, how did the daughter manage to get a plaster cast on her leg in a State hospital? OK, her aunt worked there but all the same. Also, would a 14 years old in this day and age be interested in a musical like "My Fair Lady"? I would have thought she would be more interested in something directed at her age group. Would she really be willing to have a cast on her leg just for that? And why did her father have to pay to go on a run? Little niggles but anyway, thank heavens for something to watch on a Friday night.

I started to watch it but got sidetracked by Gleb on CMChef. I thought it looked promising so will watch rest of the recording later.

No one seems to have commented on this for a while so I don't know if I am the only one who watched it until the final episode. If anyone did see the last one can they explain it to me?! I don't know if I fell asleep in the middle so can someone explain to me what happened about the insurance policy? I saw the younger insurance agent burning the evidence so that the death would look like an accident but I thought the insurance company was about to go bust anyway? Anyone know?

I actually forgot about it! And by the time I remembered I'd missed the first one.

The younger brother burned the policy and all the evidence so it was a code of silence. The widow is not charged and he does not have to pay out, and they had no money because their father had fiddled the books and they were facing prosecution too if it had come to light. The widow made a paper boat out of her copy. Bekka was supposed to kill him so spiked his drink with the strychnine but changed her mind and knocked the glass over. I assume that, as the rat seemed to be quite healthy at the end, she had given him the wrong glass, which would be typical of these assassins!
I thought it was OK but a bit too long. I also would have had more sympathy for her if the widow hadn't been such a total drip. And as for the way he always called her Mummy..... Yuk!
