Did anyone else watch Brookside? ... I loved it in it's heyday .. before it went down the road of the other soaps for death and destruction

Ooh, yes, I was a fan. (Funnily enough, I was reading a thread about it on Digital Spy only this morning.)

Yep,didn't get to the final episode, think l gave up way before that.
The lesbIan kiss and the body under the patio sort of spring to mind.
Wonder what Paul Usher and the bloke who played Jimmy Corkhill are up to now?

It was rather losing its way in the end and became a bit of a chore to watch, but I thought I'd stick through to the bitter end. They had some quite controversial storylines over the years, didn't they?

What I liked about it was that because it was, at the time, on a minor channel it didn't get much press coverage so when a character died you didn't know it was coming
The deaths of Kate moses, Frank Rogers, Tony Dixon and Sue Sullivan's baby were such shocks .. and the verdict in the Jordache case was also unknown and that came as a shock .... also the jury foreman in that case was John Middleton (Ashley Thomas from Emmerdale)

I loved it in the earlier years, pretty groundbreaking stuff, and good drama, well acted. Definitely would be talking about it at work the next day, particular with the plot involving the Jordaches. There was also some humour. Would also watch the Saturday omnibus. The theme music is pretty distinctive. I miss it, I don't watch any soaps these days though.
