I found the first series in a charity shop and bought it cos I loved this show when it was first on. And watching it now, it's amazing how many actors are in very small parts in this but went on to be big stars in other shows. Right now, I'm watching Ross from Friends being a really crappy lawyer!

A few years back, one of the channels showed the whole of Hill Street Blues in the afternoons. I used to record them and watch them on the evenings after work. Loved HSB.
It's quite funny watching David Caruso in NYPDB because it's when he could actually act. He hadn't morphed into the Sunglasses of Justice yet.

Yes, I enjoyed this too . . but . . I loved Hill Street Blues more Would love to see that all again. Oh God yes, I loved this. I never saw it originally but in the early hours C4, on a weekend, used to show a double bill of Hill Street Blues and St Elsewhere and I got into it them. They also showed Third Watch which followed cops, fire and EMTs in NY. Oz about a prison I also found in the early hours on C4. I think Spin City was on at about midnight aswell. ITV from about midnight in the early 90's was Married With Children, Sledge Hammer and Prisoner Cell Block H and also In Bed With MeDinner which was Bob Mills sitting watching old documentary clips and laughing at them. Kinda like Russell Brand on Ponderland or Danny Baker on Brushing Up On... I never saw NYPD Blue, but heard it was good. I think I've been put off getting into it because I never really liked the CSIs and especially Horatio in Miami, but I think NYPD Blue would be a bit grittier. I wish ITV, C4 and C5 would show some old shows again instead of a roulette wheel for 3hrs! Or repeats of Hollyoaks and property shows.

NYPDB is way more like HSB than CSI! And Caruso actually does some acting rather than standing around looking cool. I think you'd like it.

I used to love the little logo at the end. Instead of the MGM lion they had a cat with a green scrub mask on StElsewhere and for HSBlues the cat wore a little blue cops hat! I used to like watching all these shows late at night and now we get nothing. Thank God for DVDs!📀
I found the 1st episode of NYPD Blue online so I'll try and find some time to watch it.

Anyone remember seeing a US series called Paperchase or similar? It was about lawyers etc at University.
Loved watching MASH too. BUT BUT BUT . . . best series ever . . . ER. Watched this from the very beginning and before my kids left home we watched it all over again (and again!) on DVD - every series until the end.

I used to like the early years of ER, John Carter was my favourite. And when Mark Greene died, OMG it was so sad especially the version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow that they used.
I watched a couple of series of Chicago Hope aswell on BBC1 when they were showing them late at night. My fave was the Brain Salad Surgery episode, a homage to Dennis Potter.

I watched ER from start to finish. Watched Carter grow up. Loved ER. Still spot actors that were in it. 'Gerry' was in Bones a couple of weeks ago.

NYPD Blue and it's predecessor Hill Street Blues were just about the greatest cop shows ( I am a sucker for the American cop show)They don't make 'em like that any more. Andy Sipowicz would never come out of today's P C stereotype casting. Thank goodness for dvd's
