One of the most groundbreaking series of all time, Twin Peaks centred on the inhabitants of a small American town who all come under suspicion when local teenager Laura Palmer was murdered. Twenty-five years later, the story continues... Starts May 22nd. David Lynch is directing the whole series and he has written every episode along with Mark Frost. The majority of the original cast is back. 39 returning actors and actresses in total, including star Kyle MacLachlan. The main absences are Michael Ontkean, Piper Laurie, Joan Chen and Michael J. Anderson. I was hooked on the original even though I didn't understand the most of it I can't wait. I can never see a Cherry Pie without thinking of this programme.

I loved this, and like you, most of it went over my head!
Pity I only have Freeview.

I've been thinking about watching the old series to remember what happened, but I'm not sure it'll make much difference I'll still be confused

I don't believe anyone understood what was happening most of the time! Yet people watched in their millions.
I'll be settling down for the new series, probably with a "damn fine cup of coffee" - though not the first broadcast which is at 2.00 am on 22nd. May! People wanting to view at a more sociable hour will have to record it, or wait for the 9.00 pm transmission on 23rd. May. Starts with a double episode.

Utterly weird and incomprehensible.
I don't remember the original Twin Peaks that well, but I seem to recall that when it started at least 50% of the action was fairly "normal", if quirky. Series 3 has started with a 100% meaningless jumble of bizarre happenings. I suppose I'll have to watch again next week (another double episode) to see if we begin to get explanations for any of it...

I'm not much of a fan of fast action, but this is incredibly slow even for me. Plus even more barking mad than I remember the first two series being. Not sure I can last all 18 episodes of it either. It does make me laugh sometimes though.
