With a current broadband speed of 1.5 whatevers, I have an ad blocker on, and even with that pages take ages to download. Imagine how long they'd take with ads. We're changing to fibre on Monday and when that's up and running, I'll disable the ad blocker. We're promised at least 16 whatevers, which will seem like lightning.

If the clicking the page once an hour gets tiresome, I shall investigate ways around it. I might just whitelist this site and put up with the ads. I'll see how it goes.

According to some postings on the support board the pop-up,is well popping-up.
Is it on here,to those with ad-blocker installed?

It may be popping up, but I discovered that you can block it with an ad-blocker. You just select the element to hide.

I was getting a pop-up, but I took Mahery's advice and blocked it with my Ad blocker. Unfortunately that did not work permanently and the pop-up is back.

The thing to remember is that no-one has to pay for this forum, other than optional extras,so it is financed by ads.
That is what the pop-up is all about.

Just click it on it and it will go awayfor a few hours. The only other way to do it is for us to join together and pay for no ads. It's so much per click, I think. I can investigate if enough of you want to do that.

I don't have an ad blocker, but the ads that accompany this site that I get are very unobtrusive. A little one at the top, and a small one at the bottom which I never see because I never scroll down beyond the shoutbox. They're not a problem for me.

In all seriousness, I was just playing around, to see what I could do. I have now turned off my ad-blocker, but there are still no ads for some reason. It might be because I am not allowing trackers, I don't know. There is just a lot of space where the ads should be.

Hmm... interesting.
The reason I started using an adblocker is that I found the ads slowed the page-loading to a crawl.

Just been reading a bit more about this, under Probords TOS ,we agree not to use any means to stop on-line advertising.
So this might just start with a nice reminder pop-up,but l don't know what will happen next if that does not get the desired affect.
Paying for an ad free site,is an option, but it depends on where the funds for that comes from.
