I'd forgotten how very middle class this quiz was. And it was just before computers took over design of TV so it looks really dated even though it was only 1982. You can tell someone has actually painted, by hand, all the props. Shows how things have changed.

And now there's a really odd quiz called Quizball. With a very young Harry Carpenter as host. He's explaining the rules but I have no idea how you play this..... I hope the questions aren't this bad cos it's footballers making up the teams!

My father used to threaten us that if we didn't behave on journeys he would apply to go on Ask the Family and we would have to practice plummy accents and algebra and stuff and then come home and get beaten up by the real unplummy kids at our schools!!! My gran was convinced it was dubbed by posh people!!!

I never liked Robert Robinson , the quiz master on "Ask The Family" . He came over as smug. I will tell my nephew about the episodes on Iplayer as he is researching old quiz shows for a company.
