I watched the first four series of this American version of the British series. I found it very interesting but then I like American political drama. This isn't as good as the British series but it is very different to it as it is only based very loosely on the original. Looking forward to watching the new series which I think started on the 30th May , but I haven't watched it yet.

Just finished watching the end of the 5th season.( Am I the only one watching this great series?) even though this series ended on a cliffhanger, apparently there is no certainty that there will be a 6th series. Shame.

I loved the original so much that it put me off watching this version.

Apparently a sixth, and final season ,was in production but has been suspended because of the allegations against Kevin Spacey. I’d be disappointed if the final season didn’t materialise, as I’ve enjoyed this series , I wouldn’t even mind if the replaced Kevin Spacey with someone else! Or is that too radical ! After all it is only a TV series. Although I have a feeling KS directed it too but surely no one is irreplaceable?

I don't have Netflix so have never seen the US version but thought I might get it on DVD one day. Kevin Spacey is being replaced by Christopher Plummer in an upcoming film about Getty, so it's not unimaginable they could do it in HOC if they felt there was still mileage in the series. Not quite the same thing of course, as HOC is so closely associated with this actor. As I understand it the 6th series was going to be the last, a decision made before the allegations, so my guess is they won't bother.

I'm so angry with KS for what he's done. He's such a great actor and I love watching him but all I can think about now is what he did to that poor boy. Uck.

It's sad for the other actors and cast aswell, because they're losing out on work because productions have ended. And films like Seven are unlikely to be repeated the way it has been in the past, good films which will slowly disappear as no one will want to be seen to 'support' him, but the film isn't all about Spacey.

That's very true.

I watched all five series and I was disappointed in the 5th. I think they dragged it out too long so I won't be sorry if there is no 6th. If I remember the 5th series ended on Mrs (President) Underwood saying: "My turn." That's a good enough end. Not as good as the original British series that was just long enough and ended on a shocking note.

I know what you mean , but I would like to have seen if she got her comeuppance, I thought she was a really unlikeable character!

When watching, I thought the 4th was supposed to be the last and it would have been a good finish. When I watched the 5th I wished the 4th HAD been the last as it was so weak. I do not like Clare Underwood as a character, she is boring. Without Francis the next season really will feel a waste of time. Hope they kill him off (as in the British version) and have her impeached and arrested for his murder.
