When I was at school, it was originally part of the Anatomy Physiology and Health curriculum, connected to the PE department. They (the council) took it off 'because if somebody tries it, and makes a mistake ...' you can imagine the rest. But the same can be said about any first-aid volunteers. St. Johns and BRC seem to get by without being sued. Being somewhat cynical, I tend to suspect that some use it as an excuse for not doing anything, or spending money. I understand that First-Aid is taught in German and Swedish schools. Our council had a disclaimer clause dealing with responsibility for events that took place at school when my children started going to secondary school. I always felt that it couldn't be sustained if challenged, but I categorically refused to sign it.

Anyone watch this week's?
All about so called legal highs and their use, never heard of the phrase till recently, living a sheltered life, and now they are not so legal. How can sensible people take anything without knowing what it contains is beyond me.
Good to see at least two came off it and leading a somewhat more normal life.
Still lots of doing weird things, shouting and effing down phone and expecting knights in shining armour to come to the rescue.
Another good insight, moves to Thursday next week.

On the 999 track, I had a theft from my works about a week ago. I dialled the 101 number, and was left on hold for 14 minutes while various automated messages were telling me how busy they were. Not the sort of service I was expecting.
I was given a crime number and that was it. So it will just go down on the statistics.

I never realised those legal highs were so lethal. Nice way to end the programme with the chap getting his life in order.

This week's was all about neighbour disputes and how police are really stuck in the middle.
There were two twists, Police were called to an Asian family as neighbours heard shouting, turns out the husband was shouting at the computer in really bad English ,(hard of hearing),not shouting at his wife or beating his wife.
Then police were called to an estate as some girls had reported and old man making obscene gestures, turns out he was completely deaf and dumb, then his home was attacked, with help of police and social services got a move nearer to family, but he missed the one person who had befriended him,and said he would write.
Sort of hit home about never making assumptions, but in any doubt call Police, better safe than sorry.

Felt so sorry for that old deaf and dumb chap. He ended up losing his only friend, and also for the chap shouting at his computer (how many of us do that) It is so easy to judge people without knowing the whole story, but as geoffers says better safe than sorry.
