Enjoyed this programme last night as I love everything Joanna, her zest and enthusiastic wonder for life is infectious and she's definitely a bottle half full girl ! Very interesting too the jute factory but omg the air quality (or lack of) and those machines ? No H&S there ! And she was obviously genuinely delighted with the elephants. So pleased she got to see her mothers childhood house too. BUT no amount of gloss can cover the abject poverty, smells, dirt and general crush that is also everyday India. Fascinating place for a visit but nice to leave !

I will be catching up on this when the tennis is done and dusted.

I like Joanna's travel programmes and always make a point of watching them. This one is as enjoyable as ever. She covered a lot of distance in one episode - far south-west to far north-east - I guess we're not seeing items in the order they were filmed.
The jute operation was interesting, and on a surprising scale. It would be satisfying if it makes a big comeback as a replacement for environmentally unfriendly plastic, which is what caused its decline in the first place.

Enjoyed the programme, as always with the enthusiastic Joanna.
I will watch it with interest, as I've no intention of ever going to India. A cousin of mine said he found it "interesting and colourful" but also said "Never again!"

Watched this last night. I really enjoy her travel tales, she makes them fascinating and has such a lovely, friendly interviewing manner.

Another well made episode, I too thought the caste system no longer existed ? Surprised they showed the abject poverty. But Joanna always knows what to say and has so much empathy and sincerity with everyone. Love the way she calls everything (including the cows) darling ! Such a beautiful country, that temple carved from within the rocks was amazing, but what a gigantic divide between rich and poor?

I don't do heat and I don't do crowds, so, safe to say, India is not the destination for me. But how lovely to get a tour from the comfort of the sofa and with such an inspiring and charismatic guide. Splendid series.

Agree that this has been very watchable, as have all her other travel series. This one seemed very personal to her, as she had been born there.
Loved her interview/meeting with the Dalai Lama!! What a great personality he is! Such a good sense of humour!
