Oh I shall have to give this some very serious thought if I'm to pick just three!
Especially since I feel that one has to be Sheldon. He's a terrific creation and the show wouldn't exist without him.

I said Stuart and the two mothers. Love Sheldon, but a little of him goes a long way. I love the recurring guests and characters: Wil Wheaton, Bob Newhart (comedy genius) as Professor Proton, Barry, Howard's mother, Penny's ex... But then my favourite ep is still Howard and the robotic arm so, hmm  , maybe I should've said Howard... |

I said , Penny , Sheldon's Mum and Stuart - Start gets some cracking lines and Sheldon's Mum reminds me so much of my middle Sister  Penny is the glue that holds them all together . Quite fond of Leslie Winkle , too . |

Couldn't possibly choose Howard because he was so disgusting before he got together with Bernadette.
Needed a fourth vote, which would have been Leonard because he's the foil for Sheldon.
Chose Sheldon - without him there would be no show. Penny because she's the glue for all the other characters. Sheldon's mum who, in spite of being a religious fanatic, has so much common sense.
Leonard's mother is just too cold. Maybe she'll melt a bit under her daughter-in-law Penny's influence.
Of the celeb cameos, it has to be Bob Newhart.

I've missed the poll, but I have to say I like Sheldon, Penny and Leonard best. Love the whole concept of the show though. Every character has a part to play.
