I felt sorry for the Commercial Radio topic, as no posts had been made.
So here's one, do you have a favourite channel from earlier years?
For me, it was BRMB (Birmingham), with the DJ Les Ross. He could be quite funny.

I remember Les Ross! Lor that name takes me back...
And yes, he could be really funny. Who was the one that did the Sports phone-in on a Saturday evening? Tony something?

I don't recall that one particularly, Miranda. There was also a late night problem phone in slot, can't remember who hosted that. Seems weird, just the phone line and the radio station. Of course, phoning in still happens lots though, eg Jeremy Vine, local radio competitions etc.
Now, post your problems where you like, and get 100 Facebook bits of advice! (or similar).

That agony aunt phone-in was done by a vicar, I think? But he never got religious on anyone. It went on until about 2am on Sunday morning. Was really interesting as well.
Tony Butler?

Depressing. Northsounds 1 & 2. They describe themselves as Chart and contemporary hits for Aberdeen and North East Scotland, for NS 1 and Hit music from the last 40 years for Aberdeen and North East Scotland for NS 2. And then they have terrible ads. Absolutely lazy broadcasting is the best you can say. The tiny SHMU, is much better at what it does: www.shmu.org.uk/

My radio memories aren't so much about a specific station as they are about my first transistor radio. Tiny little thing with a 9 volt battery and three inch speaker. Had its own little leather pouch with the handle-strap.
As boys we were thought to be cool if you carried in your shirt pocket and listened to it by that single earbud plugged in.
But later as we started to like girls we would have them on when they sat around at the local swimming pool. And with 3 or four of us all running our little radios it was almost like quadrophonic stereo. LOL
Mine was AM only but back then AM radio was where it was at. News, sports, Top 40 pop, country, chit chat shows.
