This opened at Wimbledon and plays quite a few places. The stars are Will Young reprising his role as the MC and Louise Redknapp as Sally Bowles. I thought it was a good production, well put together with a very poignant last moment. Louise was a lot better than I expected although there wasn't a lot of depth to her Sally. She sang well though, as did Will. He was screamingly popular with the audience although I was less enamoured. Cabaret is quite tricky to pull off though what with themes of Nazism and abortion! One jarring note was at the end when you have a very poignant tableau and then the music plays and everyone is up and clapping along etc.

I have seen this show at the previous tour. Will was in it then and I thought he was very good. I didn't go this time though.

This production, directed by The National Theatre's Rupert Norris, is touring again. It starts this month and goes into next year. It returns to Wimbledon in February and I might go and see it again. This time the stars are John Partridge (Christian in EastEnders and absolutely brilliant in La Cage Aux Folles), Kara Lily Hayworth(me neither) and Anita Harris. It's on in a lot of venues.

This is on in the Midlands soon. I wouldn t mind seeing it as I like the film, enjoy the songs and I like John Partridge. I'll have to check my finances though.

I'd like to see the stage version too, as it differs significantly from the film (or rather the film differs as the stage musical came first). There's a good account of the differences both in the musical numbers and the characterisation here: www.flickchart.com/blog/from-stage-to-screen-cabaret/. Alan Cumming was a smash hit a number of years ago as Emcee, and I know Will Young was popular in the role too. What was the 'poignant last moment', Marion? Hardly a spoiler as the show is so well known, but put it in spoiler tags if you feel you must!

In the Will Young touring version which I believe will be the same as this one the ending is as per the spoiler, {SPOILER:Click to Show}All the workers from the Kit Kat club and the Emcee, but not Sally, are stripped and standing naked under a shower in a Camp. It isn't explained as such but you know what it happening and that they are all doomed.
