History UK have acquired the UK rights to Knightfall, the period drama about the Knights Templar which is being produced for the U.S. History network. The series is expected to premiere on this side of the pond in 2018.
Knightfall examines the Knights Templar, the secretive order who were at one time the best warriors in the world. The series tells the story of faith, loyalty and brotherhood that help sustain these warriors on the battlefield, and the dark events that would forever sear the infamous date of Friday the 13th into the world’s psyche.
The drama series stars Tom Cullen, Bobby Schofield, Sabrina Bartlett, Julian Ovenden, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Padraic Delaney, Simon Merrells and Olivia Ross.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I'm a Templar fan so it's frustrating I won't be able to see this. On the other, because I'm a fan I know how much rubbish (fictional and 'factual') has been produced about them, so I approach all such works with trepidation...

Looks interesting if I can get to see it.
It starts in the States on 6th. Dec. - in the trailers I notice Jim Carter (Downton Abbey's Carson) is playing the Pope:

It also has Tom Cullan and Julian Ovenden who played Gillingham and Blake in Downton aswell. It's like a mini reunion. Ohh and Ed Stoppard's in it. I'm going to look out for this, the cast is right up my street, and the trailer looks really good.

I do hope I will be able to see this sometime. I am intrigued to see Julian Ovenden again. He isn't on our TVs anywhere near enough.

I, too have been interested in the Templars. Between 1221 and 1236 Walter Byset, Lord of Aboyne, founded the Preceptory or College of the Knights Templar, just across the river from the village where I grew up; the land had originally been given to the Templars by William I of Scotland, in 1187. The ruins of the Templar St Mary's Chapel are a scheduled monument. We grew up learning about them because one of our school houses was Templars, named for the Knights Templar.
