I can’t believe I’m the only one saying ... “ at least cover the stash in the bin with an old Aldi bag”.
Also (as a fly on the wall) watching them divvying up............”Why not get 4 boxes, cash in one, gold in one, paperwork in one and jewellery in the last. Then start divvying.” How come they spent 6 or 7 hours just dipping in?
I know, I know.....just leave it.

Enjoyed this, and like it was done over 4 nights,so your don't forget bits.
There were some comical moments, and despite being serial criminals they were not too clever.
The actual heist was well done, and just wonder how much was filmed on location ,(the exterior scenes).
Is Hatton Garden still the same?

Been looking it up - filming locations included Greville Street, Hatton Garden and other areas in London's diamond district, plus some in Lower Marsh, Waterloo.
The set was apparently a recreation to scale of the basement floor of the building containing the vault - including a real concrete wall which was drilled through by a real drill to make the exact same size hole the robbers made.

I think in real life heists, the problem is what to do with the stuff afterwards. If you can't sell it on immediately then you are no better off than you were before. And that takes some serious logistics.

Yeah, that featured quite a bit in the final episode, with "commissions" quoted for getting rid of stuff varying between 15% and 50% depending on people's perceived level of desperation. Once jewellery has had its description circulated and becomes "hot" about the only option is to sell the jewels separately and melt the metal down, which considerably reduces what you get for it.

That's why Basil was the sensible one, just taking the cash and the gold.

I’ve only seen bits of this but is Timothy Spall ill? He’s lost so much weight.

My wife said the same thing lizwing. I did enjoy the four episode though. I was thinking if only they had used the van to collect the new hydraulic pump, bad move by them, they should have remembered about that modern contraption called CCTV. That was their downfall, that and the police knowing that only so many people could plan the job and carry it out.

I think Timothy Spall has just been losing weight deliberately, over several years. Some say he's overdone it - I do agree he's looking too gaunt now.

I don’t think he looks well at all, such a big weight loss always shows in the face.

He was ill some time back. He lost weight then and never put it back on again. What a brilliant actor.
We've just watched the last episode of this. I remember the amusement of the public when it came out that it had been pulled off by a team of "Oldies."
But it was very sad for those who lost everything. Such a crime is far from victimless.
Well done BBC for a first class drama.

LOL. Just realised my mistake. The compliment is, that it was so well done, I had in my mind that it was a BBC production!

Interestingly, in 'Hatton Garden: the Inside Story' on Friday - when "Basil's" flat was finally raided, which wasn't till March last year, they did find a lot of jewellery as well as the gold bars. This of course hadn't happened yet when the series was made.
He got 10 years, longer than the others, because he pleaded not guilty.

Ah. So that was a bit of dramatic licence then.
