ITV’s four-part drama Hatton Garden will premiere on Tuesday December 12th at 9pm and will then air daily in the same time-slot.
Hatton Garden depicts the audacious jewellery and cash burglary at the heart of London’s diamond district executed by an elderly gang of career criminals across the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2015.
It tells the inside story of how the men pulled off the heist which was considered in a class of its own in terms of scale and ambition, and the extraordinary level of planning, preparation and organisation required to penetrate the vault of the Hatton Garden Safety Deposit Company. It was penned by Paul Whittington and Terry Winsor and stars Timothy Spall, Kenneth Cranham, David Hayman, Alex Norton and Brian F. O’Byrne.

Hmmm.... interesting! According to last night's HIGNFY it was a cock-up from start to finish.

Looking forward to it, as it's such a stellar cast and it was an interesting crime, at the time.

I too am looking forward to this, having seen the trailer several times. Decent cast, too.

Why didn't it air in the original slot?

It's taken a very long time for this to get to court.

Of possible interest, for comparison - the 2017 film 'The Hatton Garden Job' is showing on Film4 tonight (Friday 17 May), 9.00 pm. Judging from the RT write-up, the ITV series will be considerably better.
On Friday 24 May, after the series has finished but in the same time slot, is the documentary 'Hatton Garden: the Inside Story' about the police investigation.

I’ve watched both film versions of this story as well as the first two episodes of the ITV series. They each have their own good and weak points, although the acting in all is pretty good. The character of Basil in all of them is cast too young, but this wasn’t known at the time of writing. He’s actually nearly 60.
I’ve also read a few online reviews ( you know the sort - the IMDB ones written by teenagers from Arizona and people on creative writing courses who already think they could do a better script). I tend to get a bit impatient with those viewers who want to see “ action” (whatever that is) a la Hollywood heist capers, complain it is slow and that they are unable to empathise with or otherwise ‘admire’ any of the characters. For goodness sake- they are career criminals, they underestimated modern detective methods and they bickered and made a hash of things. They lost. They’re not Brad Pitt or (ironically) Michael Caine. It doesn’t bother me if no one in a crime drama series, including the law, is admirable. We’re not supposed to be on the side of the villains and we should probably be more pragmatic about the role of the investigators.
There really is no honour amongst thieves.

I've watched the Michael Caine film of this robbery and now this tv version [tv much better]....yes, they didn't get away with it but the initial robbery, I am just amazed they did it - the mistakes form both sides, jaw dropping and the bins, last night, left outside - YOU CAN'T MAKE IT UP.
