All a matter of personal taste I know, but I really enjoy listening to Adrian Chiles on Mondays and Tuesdays I've been known to miss buses, rearrange appointments at times.. Emma Barnett Wednesdays to Fridays... hm, I'm sure she's a nice person and a well-qualified broadcaster, but I get fed up with her shouting and hectoring tone RT for week beginning Jan 6th - and a trailer just now - she's been given an extra day and will be on air Mon-Thurs Oh well, that means I'll be in the Library a bit earlier Adrian gets Fridays...

I enjoy Radio5Live very much, have it on, low, overnight. Love the breakfast show (even with 'Campbell's rambles' as Nicky goes off on one) but this morning (Sat, 26th May) I was woken by what appeared to be a football show.
Yes, Liverpool are in the European final and its all very exciting - but the show (which I could only tolerate for half an hour) - contained nothing else. Interviews with fans (not usually wise), live link to Ukraine, memories of previous wins etc. They might as well have set up a microphone in a Liverpool pub and just let it broadcast.
On the day of the Abortion vote results in Ireland this seemed to me to be a programme more suited to the 5Extra station, rather than the general one.

I find I'm listening to it less and less. Can't be doing with Emma Barnett or Nicky Campbell. He manages to bring every subject,no matter what, back to himself. I'm not keen on the afternoon presenters either... I do like Adrian though...

And AGAIN today - majority of the show from Kiev after the football. Good grief.

I got fed up with its incessant self promoting trailers.....Adrian has that "man in the street" approach to topics, which I like. Nicky Campbell is far too full of himself for my liking.

I'm amused to read my post in 2017 when I started this thread... seriously unimpressed with Emma Barnett... 3 years later it's her final week before she moves to Woman's Hour, and I'm very sad. I will miss her!

I'm looking forward to her taking over the helm at Woman's Hour from Jenni Murray, who I miss very much, and Jane Garvey, who I will not miss. At the moment there are guest presenters which is making a nice change. Some of them are great, others less so but I think it's down to experience and it really shows how skilled a task it is.

I haven’t listened to Woman’s Hour for years (because I didn’t like Jenni Murray, another example of each to her own!) so I probably have the wrong view of it, but I can’t help but feel she’s going to feel frustrated by only having 45 minutes instead of three hours....
Is WH live?

I expect she'll continue as a presenter on Newsnight so she won't be bored.
Yes, WH is live. It is on the iplayer but often takes several hours after broadcast to become available. I think they're all participating from home at the moment so that may be why.

I just wondered... because the strength of the 5Live morning programmes is that anything can happen in phone-ins But 45 minutes is a very short time And very different audience on Radio 4? No doubt she knows what she's doing

They are rearranging the 5Live mornings.... Nicky Campbell is to get a longer phone-in programme: 9.00 to 11.00 Monday to Friday I can’t say I’m thrilled about that. He’s no way as good as he thinks he is

He’s no way as good as he thinks he is Still there is he. Haven't listened to 5 Live in years. Mr Campbell being the primary reason. Would any other Radio Talk Station employ him? Adrian Chiles though I had plenty of time for.

Adrian does Thursday and Friday 10.00 to 1.00 and was unexpectedly on this morning, interviewing Gordon Brown He will lose an hour because of the Campbell show and I am not pleased. I have a lot of time for him too
