Oh of course. It never occurred to me that the French one would be 100% French and the German one 100% German! That seems a bit out of sync with modern ways and hardly a show of European intermingling!!!!!! (I know there is a better term but I am trying not to venture into anything which might smack of politics or Brexit!). But our more recent stuff has been a lot better at keeping foreign languages in the script, and using subtitles, even the USA managed that in The Americans.

Well, that took an unexpected turn! Despite the somewhat barking mad plot and the two French police officers having inappropriate sex (one with the driver of a moving car, one with a prime suspect) I did actually enjoy the show. I wonder if, being a co-production, it stays in the same area for future episodes.

I agree with all that.
Niemans also got it wrong professionally re the prime suspect (though right about other things) - it's a change to have police characters who not only have personal problems but are also not perfect at their job!
The basic premise was pretty strange and seems to have some roots in Nazism. I note the filming locations were in Belgium - whose languages include both French & German, so perhaps deliberately chosen.

Ride upon the Storm
I missed this as I thought it would be a one episode taster before airing on All4 but it seems not. It was on Channel 4 at 11.00 on Sunday so I am just starting to watch episode 1 in catch up. The story is about the impact of faith and religion in the family of Johannes, a priest in the Danish National Church who is seeking to become a bishop. His elder son appears to be submitting his doctoral thesis and is a bit reckless. The younger is an army chaplain. I haven't really seen much of the mother yet, apart from one shower scene!
Lars Mikkelson plays the father and I have enjoyed the bit I have seen and will definitely set the recorder for the rest.

Ride Upon the Storm I hadn't noticed it was on at all! I'll have a look at episode 1 when time permits. I see from imdb there's a second series.
The River I'm half way through this on All4. It's pretty grim (like most Norwegian productions, I think), but I'm getting drawn in.

The Crimson Rivers
So another bonkers plot then! That's two out of two. I do enjoy the show though, and I have to say I was surprised by the sacrificial element!

Liberty.
This Danish series is set in Tanzania where expat Danes work to save the world with their views of freedom, and the effect of corruption in such people. It starts tonight, well actually tomorrow morning, at the very viewer friendly time of 02.50! It stars Sofie Gabrol.
Greyzone. This starts tonight on Channel 4 at 10.45 with the rest to be follow only on All4. It stars Birgitte Hjort Sorenson, the journalist from Borgen. I think it's about the use of drones, and am also not sure if it is a Swedish/Danish co-production.

Liberty - strange time to air this! Next week 2 more eps, Tues & Wed mornings, all at different times in the middle of the night. Only 5 episodes altogether, I'll probably record them.
Greyzone - looks like only the first episode will be on C4, so will have to be All4 for this one. According to imdb, it's a Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Finland/Iceland co-financed production, so thoroughly pan-Scandinavian! Somewhat higher user rating on imdb than Liberty, and 10 episodes.
I've finished The River now, but with Ride Upon the Storm on C4 & Trapped S2 starting on BBC4 I'll be suffering from Scandi overload! - & I still haven't found time for Thicker Than Water S2...
PS Greyzone ep 1 is on Wednesday.

Liberty.
I've given up on this. I found the plot rather disjointed and couldn't take to any of the key players really. And this had a good pedigree as it is by Adam Price and stars Sofie Gabrol.

Liberty.
Still watching, and will finish it now, but it's rather odd. It has a dated feel to it - I know it's supposed to be dated in that it's set in 1980, but it almost looks like it could have been made in 1980.
Greyzone.
I'm about a third of the way through. I think it's pretty good. A bit of a variation on the hostage theme, as she isn't being held for ransom etc. but is being forced to do things for her captors.
Ride upon the Storm.
I've watched 2 eps. so far. Not very priestly behaviour! - especially from Lars Mikkelsen, what with the boozing and the womanising...
The Crimson Rivers.
I've enjoyed this. Niemans doesn't set out to win any popularity contest, each time descending on the local force and ordering them about. Just one episode left now, after which Deutschland 86 will be in the time slot.

The Crimson Rivers.
I'm enjoying this one too. And it has some wonderful cinematography.

Ride Upon The Storm. Just finished watching the final episode, and the ending certainly surprised me! I found it a very interesting show, and a change from my regular diet of crime series. I hope we get series 2.

Ride Upon the Storm
I've finished that too. It got a bit weird towards the end I thought, though it was interesting with some great acting by Lars Mikkelsen especially. I'd watch series 2.
Greyzone
Finished - pretty good.
Thicker Than Water series 2
Also recently finished. Not as good as S1. I guess from the ending there won't be a series 3.
Bad Banks
The first episode only is on C4, tonight at 11.05. A Germany/Luxemburg production, about - banks! (investment banks, presumably unscrupulous ones). I'll watch episode 1 - it needs to be pretty good to get me braving the All4 player again at the moment.

Bad Banks
I did watch it all in the end. Not bad, though it contained some technicalities of investment banking which went straight over my head. There was an obvious set-up for a further series at the end, with a sort of 3 musketeers coming together (or muskerettes, since two were female) - and indeed I see a second series has been commissioned by ZDF.
The Adulterer
First episode only of the twelve is on C4, Sunday at 11.00 pm, then it's All4 for the rest. "An intoxicating cocktail of lust, betrayal and murder that is guaranteed to keep viewers on the edge of their seat", apparently. Again, I'll watch the first episode then decide whether to continue.

The somewhat bonkers show returns for series 2 on Friday 17 May on More 4 at 9.00.
