I am watching this at the moment. It follows a journalist's present-day investigation into the Vel' d'Hiv Round-up of Jews in German-occupied Paris in 1942. The story is interspersed with scenes from the actual round-up, and it is quite harrowing as it follows the story of a young ten year old Jewish girl caught up in it. It is not an easy film, but it is definitely worth watching. It is mostly in French with some spoken English, and Kristin Scott-Thomas who won the Lumières Award for Best Actress.

I watched that and thought it was very good. I had never heard of this round up before. Likewise I had never heard of the Katyn massacre until I saw the film Katyn. That was excellent, I thought.

Ive read this book but never seen the film. I’ve read about the Vel’ d’hiv Round up in other books too. I think it was used in An Infinity of Mirrors by Richard Condon, another harrowing book. There is a memorial to this deportation and several others in Paris, I think it’s an episode of French history of which they are, rightly, ashamed.

One of my favourite films - so moving. Kristin S-T is wonderful. This one covers similar historic events and is well worth seeking out.
