Series 1 of this Irish legal drama set in Dublin and starring IFTA-nominated Amy Huberman starts tonight, 9.00pm - 10.05pm: www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/fhjv29/striking-out--series-1-episode-1/I'd recommend this fairly gentle drama, series 2 of which has just finished in Ireland and will presumably be shown on 5SELECT at some point. The leading character Tara Rafferty comes over as a likeable and vulnerable person who doesn't always get things right, supported by a couple of misfits she uses for her investigations and by her old mentor played by Neil Morrissey. This write-up is from its US debut last year: www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/striking-review-987037

Oddly, this appears on the My5 app on my ipad but not on the Demand5 app picked up on the Amazon Firestick! If anyone missed it because of that it is repeated at 11.15 on Saturday.
I thought it was reasonably enjoyable. Quite glossy and it reminded me a bit of the more soapy US series you get. I shall stick with it.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It dealt with normal stuff rather than trying too hard to be edgy like a lot of recent dramas. And it was well-acted.

The series ends this week! Four episodes, call that a series? But the good news is that series 2, which I believe is very new, starts next week in the same slot on March 15. It is a bumper-sized 6 episodes, hurrah!

Four episodes, how mean is that.

That's good that they're carrying straight on with series 2. Yes, it is very new, only finished in Ireland last month, and doesn't start in North America until 16th. March - a day after us, for a change.

Ok so.... I missed the first four of S2 so there's a few things I don't know but.... I don't understand why Eric, who is supposed to be a smart man, do all his sneaking about on his company mobile. I'm sure it wasn't just me shouting 'Burner phone, you idiot!' at the TV. And why is Tara sleeping with his brother? Is she expecting him to be an honest man? And how can she be on the inquiry panel when the Dunbars are involved? Is that not a conflict of interest?
