Anyone watching this? It's a thriller about the search for an abducted girl, written by and starring Lennie James as her estranged father who hasn't seen her for years, and also starring Suranne Jones as her mother. There are other familiar faces in the cast, including Stephen Graham using his natural Liverpool accent and Jason Flemyng almost unrecognisable as a cross dresser. The RT describes it as a "... quietly excellent drama, meshing contrasting moods and emotions into a complex tapestry of guilt, fear, estrangement and family life". At first I was a bit confused by the array of characters and also by the language they use, but now I've got used to those I'm really drawn into it. There are some nice snapshots of the "ordinary" people in the area of London where it's set doing slightly odd things unconnected to the plot - in episode 4 which I've just been watching we had a couple ballroom dancing on a deserted basketball court, a Muslim lady lifting up the bottom of her veil to use her vaping kit, and a lad wheeling a drunk or stoned girl along the street in a supermarket trolley. For anyone deciding to start watching, this guide to the cast may be useful: www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2018-03-21/meet-the-cast-of-save-me/

Finished watching the sequel, Save Me Too, and thought if anything it was actually better than the first. It probably wouldn't make sense to anyone who hadn't watched the original series.
