It beggars belief! Paid for by lottery funding ie us,government funding, ie us, and the London Development agency, again tax payers. Is nothing sacred?

It beggars belief! Paid for by lottery funding ie us,government funding, ie us, and the London Development agency, again tax payers. Is nothing sacred? Most of it was funded through the FA securing loans which it is still to repaying. Lottery-funded Sport England, paid £120 million, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport put up £20 million, and the London Development Agency, contributed £21 million. It is being suggested that the FA repay any public money involved. The proposal is nowhere near as bad as the ones reached for the Olympic and Manchester stadiums. Khan would pay £600 million for the stadium and the FA would continue to run the Club Wembley hospitality business valued at £300 million. If the money goes to the grass roots, I don't mind, the question is, can you trust the FA which has very big eyes, when it comes to money.

The Football Association has issued a guarantee that all proceeds of the pending £600m sale of Wembley to Shahid Khan will be used to fund grassroots football. The FA chairman, Greg Clarke, sent a letter to members of the FA Council to reassure them the money would be funnelled back into the sport at participation level, including the purchase of an estimated 1,500 new pitches, improved drainage systems and floodlights. A source close to the FA told the Guardian a public commitment to investing such a massive sum of money in grassroots sport was “unprecedented and a potential game-changer for football in this country”. Forgive my cynicism but I will believe it when I see it.
