Broadcastnow is reporting that Sky Arts could go free to air. It could do a UKTV G2, change the name and broaden the remit from arts programming to become a rival to Channel 4 and Channel 5. It could put it on Freeview replacing Pick.
That could be part of the shake up of the Sky's entertainment offerings (partially free to air ones going upmarket) in preparation for the takeover by Fox/Disney and Comcast. I suspect Challenge will go because it doesn't fit with the broadcaster's upmarket image with its Freeview slot turning over to Sky Showcase (a channel more akin to old Sky3's Free Weekend Pass output). Real Lives could go on Freeview replacing Pick+1 and Sky Living could become Sky Crime to reflect the new focus on crime shows.
