For the first time in 50 years, Radio 4 comedy panel show Just A Minute was not hosted by Nicholas Parsons. The 94-year-old broadcaster, who has been at the helm of the programme for more than 900 episodes, was replaced by regular panellist Gyles Brandreth.
He's really getting on a bit but, thankfully, he was only taking a break.

Might be a good idea to be prepared for its being a longer break  Would Gyles be the permanent replacement I wonder? |

It was a shock, but I thought Gyles did a good job of 'replacing the irreplaceable'.

It certainly was a shock. I do hope he isn't unwell. Gyles was actually OK, rather better as chair than as a panellist when he tends to be somewhat sleazy IMO. But he handled it well, though it's fair to say they were all being kind to him!

If the audio is completely broken, and you want to keep it, you can get external USB audio cards.

I had sound problems with my new laptop so searched for a solution online. It was a fairly common problem and I was able to download a fix.

You are welcome. Windows 10 is very bad at keeping settings during an update. It is one of the reasons I don't use Windows any more.

Ok ... I have finally listened to this ep of Just a Minute. Very funny indeed and Gyles did a grand job. Seamless even. He'd be a good successor when the time arrives.
