Burger King’s Russian division has apologized for a social media campaign offering free burgers for life to women who get pregnant by football stars.
On Tuesday the burger chain announced a promotion on VK, the Russian equivalent of Facebook, offering women 3 million Russian roubles ($47,000) and a lifetime supply of Whoppers if they get impregnated by football players competing in the World Cup. Shortly after announcing the campaign they pulled it due to backlash. Burger King posted a statement on VK apologizing and said it had removed all materials related to the promotion. However, evidence of the stunt lives on in screens.

Vicki Sparks was apparently the first female commentator for a live World Cup match.
Of course, it brought out all the hate.

I'm sure she was expecting it. Best off just ignoring.
I thought she did a good job. She must have been nervous.

People have actually put in formal complaints to the BBC about it; according to the complaints women are not allowed to commentate on men only sports, and the BBC needs to understand this.

It is sad that so many take the time to complain. Are they not aware of the number of girls and young women who play football in the UK every week? How refreshing to have a knowledgeable woman commentating on a World Cup match. She was clearly spoken, provided facts and details of what was happening and did a perfectly good job.
One chap posted a picture of her and said he was "having to watch the programme with no sound".
When challenged about this he tried to make us believe that it was a technical problem with his TV.
At least have the courage of your convictions, complainers.

Good grief - it was John Terry!
Among the millions of viewers for Sparks' commentary debut was John Terry, but the former England captain told his Instagram followers that he was 'having to watch this game with no volume'.
Terry later deleted the post and returned to social media to clarify that it had nothing to do with Sparks, but was rather a genuine complaint over his lack of audio.
'Hi all, I just wanted to address an Instagram story that I posted earlier today that I've since deleted,' he said in a video to camera.

There's been some interesting Tweets about Alex Scott and Phil Neville as well. She's getting quite a lot of praise and he's getting stick for mansplaining.

I can't find the report I read this morning, but one of her fellow-commentators said he was excited to see someone who would inspire his young daughter who was just getting into football?
I'd rather listen to that than anything John Terry feels he'd like to share with us
