The theatre group went to this today. My goodness it is deafening! And everyone sings at full pelt or yells the odd spoken line for most of the time. There was a huge number of youngsters there who absolutely loved it but we all found it a bit too full-on - no subtlety that's for sure. In fact there was one of the girl band whom I did not understand throughout the whole show as the sound level seemed to muffle the actual words. When the plucky heroine sang her big number (is it called And I'm Telling You?) at the end of Act 1, she put so much into it you felt she could expire at any moment! I thought it might be a bit quieter with the departure of that woman from Glee, but no. It wasn't bad though and as I say the teenagers in the school or college trips were in raptures.

I haven't seen this but I've seen clips. I like the song I am Telling You but most times it's screamed out. And some artists don't sing "and you, and you, and you, you're gonna love me". They sing "An Choo, an Choo, an Choo, yar gunna love ME!!!"

Oh I HATE it when people sing choo instead of you. It happens so often in "big ballad belting" style singing.

That song is the worst for it because you've got the word 'you' repeated 3times so when they sing it in that annoying way it sounds like they're having a sneezing fit!😤

I saw Amber Riley,I think that’s the girl from.Glee sing it and it practically shattered the windows! A lot of singers now seem to think that they have to really belt out songs losing all the meaning. Just because you CAN sing loud doesn’t mean you have to.
