Yes, well, at the other end of making life easier the faithful kitchen roll is a gem. Cleaning beetroot after boiling usually left my kitchen looking like a crime scene until wrapped in a couple of sheets I found the skin easily came away and even my hands were stain free. Let's here it for the kitchen roll!

Absolutely. Wonderful stuff. Now, you can get them with smaller sheets so that its not as wasteful if it's a small job, but of course you can use several sheets at once if you need to.

And with smaller sheets you can wrap the beetroot up in those and not yourself as my ill written post seems to suggest.

Sleepless nights with worry about the size of paper sheets I might waste found the solution today. Put cooked beetroot into an old plastic bag set aside for re-use and yet more re-use and rub the beet clean, finally toss tired bag away.
An even better kitchen gadget might be a hired cook. One who gives more than a smear of raspberry sauce, no food stacked in a heap for me to dissect and absolutely no blood of anything on the plate.

A toaster which can also cook eggs (not just boiled), beans, and lots of other things; handy if you are in a rush for breakfast. I'm going to see if I can find that toaster.

That looks a bogger to clean, though.

Saw those toasters in one of those "All the Gadgets You could Ever Need & Didn't know You Wanted" type brochures which come inside other publications.
