I don't normally listen to this but on Tuesday 21 August it was about Bess of Hardwick, and very interesting it was too. Paddy Greene (Jill Archer) and a chap from Chatsworth were in discussion with Matthew Parris. Bess was married four times, being widowed first at 15. She had six surviving children and her fourth husband, the Earl of Shrewsbury, was jailer to Mary Queen of Scots.
I remembered to record it but have now discovered that if you want to get R4 items on iplayer you have to get the BBC Iplayer for Radio app! Who knew? Well everyone I guess although I am sure I got The Archers on the normal iplayer before. A mystery, but I have downloaded it to cover all bases. Certainly I could only see R1 on the Amazon Firestick app.
(OK a bit more research shows me you need two apps, but all the radio stuff is there on the proper website.)

It’s been a few years since they moved all the radio programmes on to the Radio IPlayer app. I love it!
