Sky One’s A Discovery Of Witches will premiere on Friday September 14th at 9pm.
A Discovery Of Witches uncovers a secret underworld of extraordinary beings hiding in plain sight for fear of persecution by humans.
The drama follows brilliant historian Diana Bishop, (Teresa Palmer), a witch denying her own heritage who uncovers an ancient, bewitched manuscript in the Bodelain library. This discovery throws her back into the mystical and supernatural world and into the path of the enigmatic vampire Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode).
What follows is a dangerous hunt for the precious, mystical document which draws her and Matthew closer together into a forbidden romance which threatens to violate age-old taboos and shake the fragile peace that exists between the species.
The adaptation, which is based on Harkness’ trilogy of novels, was written by Kate Brooke (Mr Selfridge).
In addition to Goode and Palmer, the cast also includes: Louise Brealey (Sherlock), Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), Owen Teale (Game Of Thrones) and Greg McHugh (Fresh Meat).

I’ve watched the first episode and will tackle the second today. I know we have to get through the scene setting, but so far it’s remarkably dull. Lots of “Who knew Oxford was so Harry Potter-ish?” Backed up with lots of enigmatic expressions and leaden dialogue.
Only one scene took me by surprise (the doctors going home).
Does anyone know if it gets better?

I like the Lab Team and Teresa Palmer is very easy on the eye - Owen Teale is irritating.

I have watched both episodes and all it made me want to do was re read the novels, There are a few changes from the books and it feels like we are only at chapter 8 - not even half way yet.
