BBC iplayer has changed 'radio' to 'sounds' in its navigation menu, I imagine because of podcasts and the like. For a moment I panicked and thought it was no longer there. Country's going to the dogs ...

I catch up on my beloved Radio 4xtra on mine. Wouldn't be without it. I haven't been installing upgrades for a while, so mine still says radio. Thanks for the heads up goodhelenstar. I'll know not to panic when I do.

So does mine. It's the website that has changed.

I've just been listening to Ann Cleeves' Desert Island Discs on Listen Again or whatever we're supposed to call it these days. The tracks are generally not played in full in order to meet the programme time, but I was thinking that these were particularly short and then it dawned on me that it's because it's a podcast, which has restrictions on recording rights. Another improvement that isn't! It does seem to depend on the music though – Cressida Dick's episode last week was 41 mins long and Bob Mortimer the previous week 47 mins.
It hasn't been possible to enjoy listening again to Private Passions on Radio 3, where the music extracts are generally longer, for some time for the same reason. Why do the Beeb insist on fixing something that isn't broken?
