CBC’s drama series Coroner will receive its UK premiere on Universal TV on Monday January 21st at 9pm.
Coroner follows Jenny Cooper (Serinda Swan), a newly appointed coroner investigating suspicious deaths in Toronto.
Jenny is a brave, determined yet vulnerable coroner, former ER doctor, and recently widowed mother, driven by an intense desire for the truth. She loves her son more than life itself and strives to support him while also trying to take care of herself. The passing of Jenny’s beloved husband has unlocked a primal connection to death, tied to a secret in her past that is only now coming to the surface.
The eight episode drama series, which is inspired by the best-selling series of books by M. R. Hall, stars Serinda Swan (Ballers), Roger Cross (The X-Files), Éric Bruneau (Blue Moon), Ehren Kassam (DeGrassi: Next Class), Tamara Podemski (Rabbit Fall), Alli Chung (UnReal), Lovell Adams-Gray (Second Jen) and Saad Siddiqui (Madame Secretary).

This is interesting, being based on the books by British author M R Hall, who claimed the BBC had "borrowed" some of his ideas for their daytime series 'The Coroner' (which the Beeb denied - they obviously didn't fall out with him over it though, since he went on to write 'Keeping Faith' for them).

Started to watch Coroner and I like it. This Jenny Cooper is quite a troubled soul, not just due to her bereavement - with a black dog occasionally manifesting itself to her, which no doubt will be explained in due course.

Well I probably came into this too late, but I thought it was dire.
